Bio
John Geheran brings a rare blend of financial sophistication, design insight, and historic preservation expertise to real estate. After 25 years in commercial and investment banking—including earning a major international finance award for structuring the first syndicated financing for the City of Bogotá—John transitioned into real estate, where he has now spent over 21 years representing buyers and sellers across 26 Connecticut jurisdictions, including Southbury, Woodbury, Middlebury, Bridgewater, Thomaston, Shelton, and Woodbridge. John holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BA from Le Moyne College and specializes in vintage homes and properties of distinctive character. He lives in the historic John Hurd House (late 1700s), listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has renovated five condominiums at Heritage Village, creating open floor plans, stylish kitchens and baths, and unique architectural features. Known for seeing what a home can become, John excels at repositioning and staging distinctive properties to achieve standout results. Deeply involved in the community, John is an affiliated volunteer with the Southbury Land Trust, past Vice Chairman and current member of the Southbury Economic Development Commission, and a long-standing member of Historic District 1 and the town’s Certified Local Government committee. He is also a supporter of Safe Haven in Waterbury, including opening his home for their fundraising house tour. Outside of work, John is a devoted dog lover who has welcomed several rescues over the years and hosts guests in his period-designed guest house and in-law suite, with over 400 Airbnb reviews to date, including Superhost and Guest Favorite status.

Achievements
I know this is suppose to be real estate oriented, but one achievement that gave a thrill was winning a major award given by the International Finance Community in London for my role in structuring the first syndicated financing for the City of Bogota, Columbia to be brought to the global markets. I have the usual academic and professional achievements of course, but I mention the foregoing as an indication, that novel, new or challenging situations ( in this case read: properties) are what I love to strategize about and solve.

Experience
As I am actively involved in historical preservation and conservation efforts here in Southbury, it is inevitable that out of my broader real estate experience I would develop inevitably a speciality in vintage homes and very unique homes and/or properties. I live in a home on the National Register of Historic Places so it was probably predestined. But it appears I also have an innate ability to see what a home can be as oppose to what it is. This helps in staging of course but also with helping Buyers see the possibilities in a home they are considering. A bit back, I took over as a replacement agent on a Completely round house, and with my restaging and arranging for professional pictures, I got it sold in record time with multiple offers. This skill set also got me into the flip business; I would see the possibilities in a home that other's just did not see. For myself I have done 5 condos at Heritage Village and got record prices.

Niche Marketing
I live in the John Hurd House in Southbury, built in the late 1700's. The Home is on the National Register of Historic Places. As a result of this first hand experience in living in a vintage homestead, combined with my active involvement with historic preservation in Southbury, I have come to be a specialist in the Sale of Vintage Homes, and Homes of unique character and architecture. I also have actively purchased Condos in Heritage Village which I have renovated and Sold for my own account...needless to say I have a strong insight to what goes on in Heritage Village.
