NEWPORT
Newport, RI was founded in 1639 as a haven for religious freedom for all peoples. Located on Aquidneck Island, Newport grew to be one of the largest ports in pre-revolutionary New England. Having tremendous beauty and consistent afternoon breezes, Newport became the summer home of the Gilded Era wealthy and luxurious “cottages”, also known as mansions, were erected in the late 1800’s.
